With two Leadville 100 titles, a win at the Miwok 100K and several other notable big-race finishes, ultrarunner Anton Krupicka was at the peak of his career.
Then, last June, while running near his home in Boulder, CO, Krupicka tripped and broke his right leg. The New Balance Outdoor Ambassador missed out on the entire summer season and spent the year recovering.
So when Krupicka and a few friends headed to the Grand Teton Range in Wyoming this August, a team of videographers tagged along to document his triumphant return to the trails. The resulting video, Coming Back, shows the almost-primal connection of the runners to the land. They carry nothing, run through tall grasses and boulder fields, wash themselves in a stream and lap up water directly from the source. The video not only captures the spirit of Krupicka, but also the ethos of trail running.
