There’s a lot to consider beyond the basics. Will it be too cold for the kids (or adults) to have a good time? Are the ski schools any good? Do they have a licensed childcare facility for when you want a night out? Are big crowds a problem? Is it too expensive for four people? How about trails that fit the whole family’s skill level?

Other features that played a part in the decision were entertaining and safe kids programs, non-ski options, off the mountain activities, and ease of traveling. The locations vary geographically on purpose, so the list if not full of resorts in Colorado and Vermont.
