See the World’s Top 'Boarders Ride Its Wildest Course
Winter 2011-12 was, by most counts, crappy. Too many avalanches, not enough snow and, as a result—as if to add insult to injury—we’ll be in for long-lasting drought come summer. But one interesting thing that did come out of this past winter was Red Bull’s Supernatural, a contest that was designed to find the world’s best all-around snowboarder.
Eighteen of the world’s best big mountain freeriders gathered at British Columbia’s Baldface Lodge to ride an out-of-this-world course of snowboarder Travis Rice’s invention. It included more than 80 hand-built log features—jumps, rails, ramps, kickers and even tree-top platforms—deployed across the 50-degree slope of the Scary Cherry run.
This week, Red Bull finally released the entire video of the contest—all 82 minutes of footage—to its YouTube channel. So, in case you missed it on NBC, or just want to relive the stoke, check it out here. It’s never too early to get excited for next season, right?
