Hearings are underway in Portsmouth, Virginia, to investigate the circumstances of the sinking of the tall ship HMS Bounty last fall.

The Bounty–a re-creation of the famous original, built in 1962 for the movie Mutiny on the Bounty–was caught in the throes of Hurricane Sandy when it was unable to outrun the storm on the high seas.  After an engine failure, it sank on October 29th about 90 miles southeast of Cape Hatteras. One crew member died, and the captain was never found.

Video of the hearings is streaming live.
