Minuteman Missile National Historic Site

Overview

"Our arms must be mighty, ready for instant action, so that no potential aggressor may be tempted to risk his own destruction." President Eisenhower, January 1961 Minuteman Missile National Historic Site is one of the nation's newest national park areas. It was created to illustrate the history and significance of the Cold War, the arms race, and intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) development.

The contact station is open Monday through Friday during the winter, from 8 am to 4:30 pm

Driving: 

The Project Office is temporarily located south of Exit 131 off of Interstate 90 in South Dakota.

Flying: 

The nearest commercial airport is in Rapid City, South Dakota, which is approximately 85 miles from the Project Office. The airport (RAP) is served by Delta, Northwest, and United Airlines. Rental cars are available.
