"All that is within me cries out to go back to my home on the Hudson River" FDR. This quote captures FDR's connection to Springwood, the estate that he loved & the place he considered home. The first US Presidential Library was started by FDR here. Visit the Home of FDR and Presidential Library & Museum to learn about the only President elected to four terms.The Home of Franklin D. Roosevelt National Historic Site contains "Springwood", the lifelong home of America's only 4-term President. Also on the site is the Presidential Library and Museum, operated by the National Archives. Visitors may enjoy a guided tour of FDR's home, take a self-guided tour of the Museum, or stroll the grounds, gardens, and trails of this 300-acre site.

Seasonality / Weather

Depending on the year Spring may arrive by early April in Hyde Park, gardens are in full bloom through May. Summers are generally sunny, warm, and may be humid, Autumn brings the fall foliage and crisp brillant days. Winters are tyically bright and clear with some snow. During periods of high visitation (Summer weekends, Holidays, and October) it is not unusual for tours to sellout.

The closest major airport is Stewart International Airport in Newburgh, New York (near junction of I-87 and I-84). Several major carriers have daily flights to Stewart. Car rentals are availble at the airport.

Public Transportation - The Metro-North Commuter Railroad and Amtrak both stop in Poughkeepsie, about 5 miles south of the park. Call Amtrak 1-800-872-7245 or Metro-North at 800 638-7646 for information. Taxi service to the park from the Poughkeepsie Train Station is available. Taxi service from other points in the local area is also available. The Dutchess County Loop Bus System stops in Hyde Park several times daily; call (800) 924-8702 for information.
