6 Ways to Make Exercising More Fun

Are you finding yourself in a rut? You’re doing the same fitness routine over and over again, and going to the gym just isn’t what it used to be. It’s time to switch it up! Don’t dread your workouts, fitness should fun and empowering.

Get off of the treadmill and drop the weights. Doing the same thing every day is boring and not good for your body. Let’s face it, one day you will get to the gym and there won’t be a treadmill available. What will you do then? It’s always important to have another machine in mind.

According to Jillian Michaels, “To challenge and strengthen your body, you’ll need to change up your workouts! Try different forms of cardio, follow split routines, or simply switch up the weight you’re lifting and the repetitions.”

From finding a fitness buddy, to changing up your fitness routine, there are many ways to make exercising more fun. Give yourself a reward to keep you motivated, get outside and try a new workout or even take up a new sport. Maybe you like rock climbing, hiking or swimming. Just switch it up, have fun and reap the benefits.

 

1. Workout with a friend

What’s better than having a socializing session with your bud and burning calories at the same time? Having a fitness buddy will be just the workout motivation you need! You will have to schedule your gym sessions ahead of time, this giving you something to be excited about! Your fitness buddy will promote healthy competition and will help push you to your limits!

 

2. Set Goals

Setting your goals is key to the start of any weight loss process and it also makes the process more fun! Goals are important because they give us a sense of direction and motivation. If we are on the right track to accomplishing our goals, we feel a sense of achievement, making the workout process more enjoyable. Once we make our goals, we feel more confident and we know that if we put our mind to it, we can attain it.  

 

3. Change it up

Spice up your workouts by adding variety. Sometimes we fall into the habit of doing the same set over and over again. Trust me I know, nothing is more boring than doing the same daily workout routine every time you go to the gym. Try switching up your cardio routine, if you are always running on the treadmill try swimming instead. When it comes to strength training, switch up between free weights and resistance machines.

 

4. Take a group fitness class

Taking a group fitness class is a great way to expose yourself to a fun and social environment. Break a sweat while listening to music at Zumba and SoulCycle. Some other group fitness classes include, boot camp, yoga, pilates, crossfit, barre, kickboxing and indoor cycling.

 

5. Listen to music

Listening to music always makes working out more fun. Let your body move to the beat and even quietly sing along. Listening to music will pump you up; it gives you the extra push you may need to get through. Music helps boost your endurance levels, giving you better results in the same amount of time.

 

6. Reward yourself

Rewarding yourself is sure to keep you in good spirits during your workout. I mean… what is better than knowing after your workout you are treating yourself to a much needed pampering session? This makes exercising fun because it gives you something to look forward too.
