The largest consumer cycling expo in the U.S., Bike Expo New York (BE NY), will take place over the course of two days. Beginning on Friday, May 2, 2014, the expo will open at 10 a.m. and close at 8 p.m., then on Saturday, May 3, the expo will run from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The event is free, open to the public and appropriate for all ages. With more than 100 registered vendors, gear giveaways, performance features and free bicycle classes for both kids and adults, the 2014 expo staff is expecting a great turnout. In past years more than 50,000 cyclists attended the event.
This year’s expo will be held at Basketball City on Pier 36. To find it more easily on a map, search for the intersection of South St. and Montgomery St., or find it here. The event organizers have arranged for complementary bike valet service to encourage cyclists to bring their bikes.
Strategically scheduled just before the TD Five Boro Bike Tour, registered riders will need to attend the expo to pick up their rider packet. The first weekend in May will be an exciting time for New York City cyclists and visitors, and the month of May is National Bike Safety Month.
