This Is The Coldest City In The World

Some people live in insanely affordable destinations that stay warm all through the winter, and some people live in destinations that just always feel like summer. Some, however, live in lands where single-digit temperatures and chilling frost are the norm.

In one Russian town, residents and tourists endure some of the coldest temperatures in the world.

The Top Natural Wonder in Your State

Oymyakon, a city in the Sakha Republic of Russia, is the coldest inhabitable city in the world. In the winter, Oymyakon's temperatures average minus 58 degrees Fahrenheit. And in January 2018, temperatures dropped to a bone-chilling minus 88. As cold as that sounds, Oymyakon has experienced colder. In 1924, temperatures plummeted to a record-breaking minus 96.16 degrees F.

If you do choose to stop by Oymyakon, you'll be joining the meager 500 civilians willing to endure the cold and call the city home. Oymyakon is just one of the coldest cities in the world.
