Canberra is the capital of Australia and the country’s largest inland city with a population of almost 400,000. Though the city might not be the first place tourists think of when planning a trip to Australia, Canberra has plenty to see and do.
In terms of outdoor adventures, Lake Burley Griffin is a hub for water sports like kayaking, canoeing and rowing. They have shops in the area that rent equipment and you can even charter a sail boat from Canberra Yacht Club. If biking is more your speed, check out Stromlo Forest Park, which is one of the best mountain bike venues in the world. In fact, many world championship competitions have been held there.
The benefit of this capital city goes beyond the outdoors, so when you’re worn out you can visit a number of attractions. Canberra is home to the National Museum of Australia, the National Gallery of Australia and plenty of amazing wineries.
