Super Safari: Iconic Animals of the National Parks
Every year, hundreds of millions of people visit America's national parks. They go to escape the buzz of modern urbanized life, to get outside and experience some of the world's most pristine, wild landscapes—soaring mountains, rolling grasslands and primordial forests. But, also, they go to see wildlife.
The national parks offer stringent protections to megafauna of all variety, and therefore harbor thriving populations of North America's most impressive animals—great bison herds, howling wolf packs, ancient alligators, regal bighorn sheep, loping moose and elusive wolverines.
We've done the work of tracking a few of these creatures down—finding out where they frequent in your favorite national parks—to help you in your quest of finding America's iconic animals. Click through to the slideshow for the inside track.
