Mountain resorts around the country are prepping and transitioning for the ski season ahead and skiers and boarders are dreaming of that first big powder day. Where was the Silverton Mountain patrol team on Sept. 30? They were taking the first few turns of the 2014/15 season on some all natural powder.

Silverton, the ski area with the highest elevation in North America at 13,487 feet, was recently hit with early season storms that brought about two feet of fresh snow. The Colorado mountain is scheduled to open to the public on Dec. 20, but according to a press release, the opening date could be moved up if the great conditions continue.
