For many NFL draft prospects, draft day is one of the biggest days of their lives. It’s often the fulfillment of a lifelong dream. Before that dream can become a reality, prospects go through a process of scouting, studying and interviewing. During interviews, teams are known to ask weird questions meant to catch players off guard. Here are some of the weirdest questions NFL draft prospects have been asked.

The University of Alabama is a school known for its team spirit, which is perhaps why running back Bo Scarbrough said he was asked if God is a fan of Alabama’s rival, the University of Auburn Tigers. He answered no.

A lot of people love their mom, including NFL draft prospects. In 2016, journalist Dane Brugler tweeted that the weirdest interview question he heard at the combine (a yearly showcase that NFL coaches, scouts and executives attend to evaluate future players) was “Do you find your mother attractive?”

You might assume that a football player is not thinking about what kind of fruit they are, but edge rusher Marcus Davenport had an answer ready. According to reporter Andrew Mason, Davenport answered the question by saying, “An apple — because an apple a day keeps the doctor away.”

This is a weird question because unless you are color blind, you almost certainly know that chocolate is brown. Lineman Jon Toth told Fox Sports that he answered “dark brown” and the coach said “no.”

This is an odd but easy question for pretty much anyone to answer, especially for residents in the states that get the most snowfall. Toth claims to have gotten it wrong. He answered white, but the correct choice was in fact clear, according to the interviewer.

Reporter Mike Freeman said one prospect during the 2017 combine was asked about his feelings toward clowns. Maybe because a clown is one of the most searched Halloween costumes in the United States?

Most people aren’t thinking about what fish they are when their future is on the line. Unless you are an avid swimmer or snorkeler. Freeman reported that the prospect responded with a “shark.”

Linebacker Chris Smith recounted in a 2016 interview this question on bricks. Unless you're going over your home maintenance checklist, not many people are going to be thinking about what you can do with a brick.

It’s always going to be weird — and invasive — when someone asks you what you’re wearing under your clothes, especially someone who is considering hiring you, but that’s exactly what happened to former defensive end and current mixed martial artist Austen Lane.

This can be a trick question because if you say “no,” they could think you’re hiding something. However, offensive tackle Spencer Drango had no reason to spring clean his digital life. He reportedly responded, “Sure. I search a lot of food.”

Punter Michael Dickson said one team asked him to engage in a staring contest.

Offensive guard Corey Levin was asked about his drink of choice, and when he responded by saying he wasn’t much of a drinker, the team reportedly pried until Levin gave an answer.

Whether it was a scout looking to make some investments or just a pop quiz on the player’s personal finances, media member Jourdan Rodrigue reported Braxton Berrios had his knowledge of cryptocurrency put to the test.

Tight end David Njoku was thrown off when asked about the sun, specifically where it rises and where it sets.

This question was not “Are you a cat person or a dog person?” Guard Willie Beavers was asked if he’d rather be a cat or a dog. He went with a dog. What kind? We don’t know. But here are the most popular dog breeds in every state.

Asked the same question about whether he’d rather be a cat or a dog, running back Jamaal Williams needed clarification. “If you're a cat and you get blown up on a play, do you get back up and you've got eight lives now?” Williams asked.

This is probably the only football-related question on here, but knowing a prospect’s go-to team on the NFL video game could show which team they prefer to join.

Does the paper clip have a larger purpose than just holding papers together? The Cleveland Browns seemed to think so when they asked multiple players about the different uses for a paper clip. Presumably, every player vying for an NFL roster spot hopes to spend more time on the field than learning office etiquette.

One team asked a player whether he was getting married within the next six months. It’s unclear how relevant being married is to football, but maybe it’s just part of wedding myth and superstition.
