How to Stay Safe If You Are Still Going to Work During Coronavirus

If you’re one of those people who can't work from home and is still going to work every day, there are ways to stay safe while also preventing the spread of the coronavirus.

Employers should respond in a way that is flexible based on the levels of disease transmission in your area or community. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that companies coordinate with state and local health officials to determine how to best operate while still keeping employees safe. There are many things that the CDC has advised everyone to do to avoid spreading the virus, and here are some precautions that should be taken by those who still have to go into work. 

According to the CDC, it’s important to clean and disinfect objects and surfaces that are touched often such as workstations, keyboards, telephones, handrails and doorknobs. Dirty surfaces can be cleaned with soap and water prior to disinfection. Make sure to avoid using other employees’ phones, desks, offices or other work tools and equipment when possible. If necessary, clean and disinfect them before and after use. Also, try to not shake people’s hands.
