Of all the advancements made in the realm of travel, it seems odd that the standard carry-on hasn’t gotten a major upgrade in, well, decades. Makers stick to mainstream size regulations and maybe they use a different material or they tweak the style a bit, but there have been no substantial changes to the carry-on until now.
Bluesmart is a carry-on suitcase that you can control from an app on your phone. Branded as the “world’s first smart, connected carry-on,” Bluesmart has a bunch of interesting features.
There is a lock on the suitcase that’s controlled in the app, in addition to a location tracker, which is helpful if your suitcase is ever lost, but also provides a trove of your traveling history. Other notable features include a built-in scale and a power bank that provides enough power to charge your phone six times.
Bluesmart has been crowdfunding on Indiegogo since Oct. 20 and in just four days it has far surpassed it’s initial fundraising goal of $50,000. With more than 30 days left to fundraise, the smart carry-on has already raised more than $400,000. They plan to begin delivering Bluesmart in July, to the early supporters. On their Indiegogo site, you can get your own carry-on for $235, or you can wait until it hits stores and pay an estimated $450.
