As adults, we all strive to be financially successful enough to purchase the home of our dreams, send our children to college and retire peacefully. And with proper financial planning, those aspirations can come true. 

In certain areas across America, a combination of economic resources — like earnings from high-paying jobs — has contributed to a high percentage of household incomes of $100,000 or more. Using data from the Census Bureau, we found the top locations where households bring in six figures or more.

They say everything is bigger in Texas, and that includes the total number of six-figure-earning households. According to the Census Bureau, 27.7% of Texan households make $100,000 or more. But even if your income is below the six-figure mark, you can still have a great time in Texas. It’s an insanely affordable warm-weather destination.

According to data compiled by the Census Bureau, 28% of North Dakotans have a household income of $100,000 or more. If you’re ever in the Peace Garden State, be sure to stop at Theodore Roosevelt National Park — it’s the most beautiful place to snag a photo in the state.

In Colorado, you’ll find an abundance of popular ski resorts and one of the highest percentages of six-figure household incomes. According to the Census Bureau, 32.4% of the household incomes in Colorado are equivalent to or greater than $100,000.
