Amid the coronavirus pandemic, everyone has been working on practicing proper hygiene to keep themselves and their loved ones safe — from washing their hands often to making sure to wear a face mask every time they go outside. However, you may not realize that there is one thing you come in contact with often that you probably never thought of cleaning: your credit card.

25 Ways You Are Cleaning Your House Wrong

Your credit card touches tons of surfaces as well as your hands and employees’ hands at places like restaurants or the grocery store. Even if you and the employee are wearing gloves during the transaction, your credit card can still harbor germs and bacteria much like your phone.

So how do you clean a credit card? CDC-approved cleaning supplies like a disinfecting wipe or an alcohol-based sanitizer can clean and disinfect your card. However, be gentle when wiping your card down and try to avoid coming in contact with the card’s chip to prevent damaging the card’s functionality.
