These Star Wars gifts are impressive, most impressive

Andrew Hard

From waffle makers to Christmas sweaters, there’ s a galaxy’ s worth of Star Wars gifts out there.

The Star Wars universe is impossibly vast. It's home to countless alien races across multiple star systems, each with its own environment, culture, trades, and tools. It's no surprise, then, that the Star Wars merchiverse is equally expansive. You can find everything from Legos to stylized knife blocks for the Star Wars fan in your life, even if that fan happens to be you. For this holiday season, we've collected some of our favorites. These are the gifts you're looking for.

(Beware with some of these products, though, because they may arrive after Christmas. But we're confident your gift recipient will be happy to get them, even if they're a couple days after the holiday.)

"Ugly" Christmas sweaters

These days, ugly Christmas sweaters are nearly as traditional as tinsel and wrapping paper. Despite the name, though, they aren't always revolting to look at, and these Star Wars sweaters are proof. This X-Wing vs. TIE fighter incarnation calls back to the original trilogy in a kitschy but not overly offensive way, and its knitted threads will keep you warm all winter long. If it's iconic characters you're after, consider these Darth Vader and R2D2 versions.

The best waffle maker in the galaxy

Lazy Sundays (or any other day, for that matter), are always improved by hot, crispy waffles. It gets even better if you can make them at home, and this ThinkGeek product has the added benefit of producing waffles in the shape of your favorite moon-sized superweapon. The waffles aren't quite as big as the movie Death Star, but they do feature trenches and laser emitters accurate to the film's design. In addition, it equips non-stick cooking surfaces to keep everything intact.

Star Wars Monopoly

With its unique locations and legendary characters, Star Wars is the perfect fit for a game like Monopoly. This 40th anniversary edition from Hasbro focuses specifically on the original 1977 film, allowing you to collect the classic scenes, ships, heroes, and locales from A New Hope. We just hope your family is ready for nostalgia of this magnitude.

Star Wars Legos

There are more Star Wars Legos on the market than we can count, but that's simply because they make excellent gifts. Not only do they encourage creativity and tactile learning, it's awesome to see iconic environments from Hollywood come to life before your eyes. This time, we have our eyes on the Kessel Run Millennium Falcon, the perfect mix of the original and new films. She may not look like much, but she's got it where it counts.

Droid-powered USB charger

A USB charger is essential equipment for anyone with modern electronics--phones, tablets, smart speakers, or fitness trackers. Why not satisfy your nerd side with this R2D2-themed model? Featuring two USB ports--one 2.1A and one 1.0A--this charger can power all your mobile devices and it lights up to indicate when it's distributing power. Beep boop.

An umbrella fit for a Jedi

This lightsaber umbrella features enough Star Wars flair to satisfy any diehard fan, but it's also a really great umbrella on its own. Along with its seven-color LED light shaft, the umbrella boasts quick-dry polyester fabric, eight-rib construction, and an integrated flashlight on the handle. It even comes with its own carrying bag for extra convenience.

Intergalactic cufflinks

Looking to express your geekdom in a subtle yet formal way? Star Wars cufflinks are perfect for that, and we can't think of a better option than those modeled after the fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy. These alloy Millennium Falcon cufflinks give instant Star Wars cred without being loud about it; in fact, most onlookers probably won't even notice. Lean more toward the dark side? Try these Sith-approved gunmetal Darth Vader cufflinks.

Death Star ice cube mold

This isn't the most high-tech gift in the world, but with a little creativity, this silicone Death Star mold can go a long way. Most commonly used for superweapon-shaped ice cubes, the mold can also be filled with chocolate, cake, or ice cream for a truly delicious indulgence. If you're feeling confident in the kitchen, try a hard chocolate outer shell with a fudge or peanut butter center.

William Shakespeare's Star Wars

Do you know somebody who loves science-fiction and theater? Cover both bases with William Shakespeare's Star Wars--the entire Star Wars saga reimagined as an Elizabethan drama penned in authentic Shakespeare style. It's significantly more in-depth than sprinkling iambic pentameter over the original works, though; in fact, the changes are quite stunning. The book features theatrical monologues and dialogue by characters like R2D2 and Darth Vader, as well as some fantastic woodcut-style illustrations.
