Spotlight deal: Soak up the nostalgia with PlayStation Classic

Jacob Palmer

Do you miss the simplicity of original PlayStation games -- the ones you grew up with? Ever wish you could mix some nostalgia back into your gaming regimen? Well, you're in luck.

PlayStation announced this week they're selling the PlayStation Classic for $99, starting Dec. 3. They'll be available for pre-order from Walmart and will come pre-loaded with popular throwbacks like Final Fantasy VII, Jumping Flash, Ridge Racer Type 4, Tekken 3, and Wild Arms. The consoles will come have 20 titles included in total.

This new iteration of the PlayStation Classic about 45 percent smaller than the original console, so it'll easily fit on your entertainment center and will be a great change-of-pace for gamers who want a break from super stylized modern titles.

It has some upgrades from the original console: Instead of the clunky RCA plugs, it'll utilize an HDMI cord, allowing you to use it on basically every new TV. But it still has that classic controller that introduced so many to more advanced gaming systems back in the early 2000s.

The PlayStation Classic follows some of our other favorite throwback consoles, like Nintendo's NES Classic. And if you really want to step up your gaming system, check out our guide on how to the build the best retro arcade set up ever.
