Biggest surprise sales of Black Friday

Arnold Carreiro

Many times big brands don't offer great discounts over Black Friday because they know they'll sell either way, but sometimes you get lucky.

A lot of Black Friday sales are no-brainers, especially on Amazon (you know all their devices like Echos and Kindles will be at super low prices), but there are a lot of hidden gems if you know how to spot them. We scoured the sales and found some too-good-to-pass-up bargains on things that rarely go on sale, or never see the kinds of discounts being offered today. We recommend buying these if you've been on the fence, as you probably won't ever get a better deal than today.

Amazon Warehouse

You may not have heard about Amazon's "Warehouse," but lightly used and returned items end up relisted on this lesser-known corner of the website. It looks like Amazon is hoping to completely clean out the Warehouse this Black Friday by placing a 20% discount across a range of categories, including kitchen and dining, baby, Amazon devices, laptops, cameras, TVs, toys, videogames, kitchen and bath accessories, winter accessories, and luggage, with a few surprises thrown into the mix as the weekend rolls on.

Look for Amazon's Bargain Bin banner near the bottom of the Warehouse page for a list of items that are marked at least 50% off, and keep an eye on this page in the future because you'll never know what you'll find!

Huge Play-Doh Discounts

Amazon has sneakily slashed the price for a number of brand-new and classic Play-Doh collections and playsets. If there's a creative kid on your holiday shopping list, you'll want to check out these colorful deals:

Six- Piece Play-Doh Sparkle Compound Collection - $4.94 (51% off)

Play-Doh Playful Pies Set - $6.19 (77% off)

Play-Doh Kitchen Creations Frost 'n Fun Cakes - $7.99 (33% off)

Play-Doh Max the Cement Mixer - $23.00 (56% off)

Walmart has a particularly impressive deal on the sixth entry in the Soulcalibur fighting game series, especially considering that this video game was just released in October. Normally $59.99, the $35.00 Black Friday price is a shockingly good deal for anyone who wants to visit a vibrantly remade world of souls and swords alongside fan-favorite fighters, such as Astaroth, Nightmare, and Tira, on their choice of the Xbox One or Playstation 4.

Nest Products on Sale

It is rare to find Nest's collection of home-monitoring devices marked down, so now is the perfect opportunity to begin installing the smart home of your dreams. We're especially impressed with the Nest Protect Smart Smoke & Carbon Monoxide Alarm; not only will it immediately send a notification to your phone the moment it detects a problem, Nest Protect easily pinpoints the source of the smoke or CO2 in your home. Our only complaint about it was its price, and we believe that the $5.00 discount is a nice bonus that comes with knowing that your home is being protected. Here are a handful of other excellent deals on Nest smart home products:

Nest Cam Outdoor - $149.00 (25% off)

Nest Learning Thermostat - $179.00 (Stainless Steel or Copper, 8% off)

Nest Cam Indoor - $129.00 (35% off)

Nintendo Switch & Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Bundle

It would've been a major surprise if the Nintendo Switch itself was on sale for Black Friday, but Walmart's console and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe bundle is still an impressive deal, since this popular racing game is normally sold for $60. Considering that Mario Kart 8 Deluxe sports a large online community of racers to play with, a bigger-than-ever cast of 42 characters, including Donkey Kong, Waluigi, and of course, Mario himself, and 48 adrenaline pumping racetracks, you couldn't ask for a better introduction to the Nintendo Switch at this price!
