Best Halloween costumes for dogs

When you can't get enough of Halloween, the dressing up doesn't stop with you and your human family members. You need to find a decent Halloween costume for your dog, too! The question is, which one?

Should you choose something cute or spooky? A standalone costume or one that goes with what you're wearing?

Whether you plan to make your dog's costume yourself or go with a store-bought option, you'll need some inspiration. Here are some of the best Halloween costume ideas for dogs.

Steed: Turn your dog into a tiny horse by putting a "saddle" on his back and sitting a toy cowboy or knight astride it.

Fluffy: Remember Fluffy, the three-headed dog from Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone? Dress up as Harry Potter and dress your pooch up as Fluffy for an enchanting "couples" costume.

Dinosaur: There are some adorable dinosaur onesies for dogs, or you can make one yourself, to transform your four-legged friend into a stegosaurus, T. rex, or other dino of your choice. Roar!

Hot dog: Attach half a hot dog bun (not a real one, of course) to each side of your pooch to turn her into a real-life weiner. This canine Halloween costume is especially cute on dachshunds, but it will work on any type of dog with a long body.

Ewok: Dress your dog as an Ewok and yourself as Princess Leia, Luke Skywalker, or Han Solo for the best Star Wars costume on the block.

Devil dog: If you're short on time or money, make or buy some red horns to transform your four-legged friend into a devil dog.

Sebastian: If you're a Disney fan, why not go as Ariel and dress up your dog as Sebastian, the cautious crab (or possibly lobster, but this isn't the time or place to open that can of worms) from The Little Mermaid?

Superhero: Either dress your dog as a specific superhero, such as Batman, Wonder Woman, Superman, or (dare we suggest it?) Catwoman, or simply add a generic superhero cape and mask.

We hope this has given you some inspiration. No matter what costume you choose this Halloween, we're sure your dog will look cute as a button!
