Anastasia Beverly Hills Blush Trio review

Adding blush to your makeup routine is the best way to give your cheeks a healthy glow. However, for blush to work its magic, it must look natural, not noticeable. The key is choosing the proper color in a blush that also offers seamless blending.

Anastasia Beverly Hills has a line of Blush Trios that claims it can do exactly that. The full-pigment formula offers buildable coverage while the finely milled powder delivers seamless blending. Plus, with three shades per compact, you can find or mix the perfect color for your skin tone.

To find out if Anastasia Beverly Hills’ claims were true, we decided to test the blush for ourselves. Here’s what we found.

How we tested the Anastasia Blush Trio

For this article, we chose a tester who had previously only used single color palettes. They prefer blushes that aren’t too heavy and have a matte finish with little to no shimmer or glow. Our tester also likes to use a blush that leaves their cheekbones looking rosy without being too dark or prominent.

Before switching to Anastasia’s blush, our tester used a MAC Cosmetics matte blush. After considering the five palettes that Anastasia offers (Pool Party, Berry Adore, Peachy Love, Pink Passion and Cocktail Party), our tester chose Pink Passion, which includes three shades of pink: Basically, a matte orchid pink; Sugar, a satin bubble gum pink; and Rose, a satin petal pink.

What is the Anastasia Blush Trio?

The Anastasia Beverly Hills Blush Trio is a palette that contains three full-pigmented blush shades. The blushes are all cruelty-free and vegan products that have been finely milled into a blendable formula that provides a buildable intensity with a seamless finish. The purpose of having three shades is to offer versatility. The wearer can apply the shades separately or blended to create a variety of looks.

The Anastasia Blush Trio comes in a travel-friendly container with a built-in mirror for on-the-go touch-ups. The design is visually appealing and features the same color scheme as the rest of the Anastasia collection: a black case with rose gold lettering. The lightest shade of the three equally sized blushes is in the center, with the darker tones on the outer edges of the palette.

How does the Anastasia Blush Trio work?

If you’d like a soft wash of color, the manufacturer suggests applying the shades in your blush palette with a light sweeping motion. However, if you’d prefer a more saturated color, the best method is to use a stippling motion. To create your own shade, mix two or three colors together, or layer the shades for a multidimensional, naturally flushed look.

To add volume to your complexion, it’s best to apply Blush Trio to your upper cheek plane. If you’d like to brighten your complexion, however, it is better to apply Blush Trio to the apples of your cheeks. Additionally, Anastasia suggests applying Blush Trio above a contour application to enhance your cheekbones.

We used a contour blush brush to apply the blush, making the application process easy and even, whether it was over foundation or bare skin. We tested all color combinations and found that all three colors compliment each other and mix well together. For everyday wear, we preferred using a blend of all three colors.

How does Anastasia Blush Trio perform?

We found the application time was minimal, and the blush delivered a full and rosy coloring. The blush was matte with a slight shimmer of light pink, which complimented a fair skin tone very well.

Compared to other blushes we have used, the Anastasia Blush Trio seems to be the most long-lasting. It holds very well throughout the day, with minimal color deterioration. At the end of the day, we were still able to see the blush that was applied in the morning, and there was never any flaking or dryness. Since this blush is a powder, there was no time needed for it to set or dry, but that means there were also no hydration benefits.

When it was time to remove the blush, we simply used a makeup-removing wipe and it came off with minimal effort.

Anastasia Blush Trio pros

The best part of the Anastasia Blush Trio palette is its versatility. Because each shade has a similar texture and finish, you can choose between the three colors or mix them together in any way you desire. Additionally, having a palette of three colors means you can use this blush trio for both daytime and evening. The rich pigments in these blushes make them suitable for darker skin. They are easy to apply and wipe clean with little effort.

Anastasia Blush Trio cons

One of the minor downsides of this product is its compact size. While this feature makes the Anastasia Blush Trio great for on-the-go touch-ups, it can be difficult to use only one color at a time because the individual blushes are so close together. While we didn’t experience any problems with blending, a few users noted that this blush was almost too pigmented, which could make it difficult to blend. Some users also felt that the blush left a residue on the skin, but again, we didn’t experience that.

Is Anastasia Blush Trio worth it?

The Anastasia Beverly Hills Blush Trio is an ideal product for the person who wants a blush that is versatile and can be mixed and blended for different looks. Since this is a powdered blush — which makes it the easiest type of blush to apply — it is suitable for all makeup skill levels, from beginners to professionals. The three colors of this product can be layered to give your skin an enviable multidimensional look, making this blush a great value.
