Fitness Tip of the Week: Create Healthy Cues

Use everyday incidences to encourage new healthy habits

One way to instill healthy practices is to make them a habit. For instance, set up mental triggers that will remind you to perform healthy habits when you are doing simple everyday activities.

This may sound confusing, but it’s not. Here are a few examples:

  • Every time you walk through a doorway, that could be a mental trigger to stand up straight.
  • Every time you get in your car remember to tell yourself confidence boosting messages.
  • Every time you get a text message remember to drink more water.

By using these cues over and over the healthy practice you associate them with will eventually become a natural habit.

Health triggers are an effective way to remember to perform healthy practices, and as you build more and more of them up you create a lasting healthy lifestyle!
