Fitness Tip of the Day: Flex Between Sets

Flexing your muscles during rest periods may help increase muscle growth

For those of you who like to lift weights, this simple tip can help you rush more blood to your working muscles providing a bigger pump— increasing the amount of blood flow to that specific muscle group.

The trick is to simply flex the muscle group you are working between sets. This drives more blood to that area and increases your "pump!" A bigger pump means that there is more blood in the region providing the muscles the nutrients and oxygen they need, especially while they are being taxed. The combination of weight lifting and increased blood flow will hopefully equate to muscle growth.

You don’t need to flex in front of the mirror like you are Mr. Olympia, but try this tip out and see if it works for you. This also holds true for anyone performing bodyweight exercises.
