Fitness Tip of the Day: Age Isn't an Excuse

Weight loss may become more difficult as you age, but it's still possible to target "trouble" spots and achieve all your goals

We all know about the “problem” areas on our bodies, especially as we age. For the guys it is usually around the waistline and for the gals it is usually the hips and thighs.

This is usually caused by the hormones cortisol in men and estrogen in women, which have been associated with causing fat to deposit in the areas described above. Due to hormones and slowing metabolism, as we age it does become harder to lose weight from these areas.

Don’t be discouraged, though; you can still lose the extra weight from these areas even though your physiology may be trying to put it there. Although it does take time and patience, the same principles for weight loss apply. With a proper calorie deficit through diet and exercise along with controlling any hormone imbalances (if that is even the case) you still can achieve the results you want.
