Pushing yourself past your limit might seem like a way to get stronger faster, but you could be at risk for an injury. Without the muscle mass to alleviate it, extreme heavy lifting could put extra pressure on your bones and joints. As you age, your bones lose density and could be at risk for fracture. Choose a weight that’s challenging, but not impossible to lift. You may not be able to perform the heaviest lift of your life, but that’s OK!
