Holiday shopping can be stressful, not to mention expensive, which is why more and more consumers are turning to online shopping in order to avoid the frenzied crowds and unbearable cash register lines that come with the season. One significant drawback to buying gifts from the comfort of your home, however, is having to pay shipping fees. These seemingly small amounts can seriously add up when you’re buying gifts for everyone on your list.
There is, however, one easy way to skirt shipping fees this holiday season: wait until the last minute. That is, wait until mid-December. Hundreds of major retailers participate in Free Shipping Day, an online shopping “holiday” in which stores and brands that typically don’t offer free shipping do so in anticipation of holiday sales.
This year, Free Shipping Day will occur Dec. 14, with the guarantee that all orders will be delivered by Dec. 24. Over 1,000 major retailers took part last year, including Macy’s, Walmart, Target, Best Buy, Sephora, Zales and Kohl’s.
While gifts aren’t the most important part of celebrating the holiday season with your loved ones, they are an inevitable part. This year, save yourself some money and some stress with these 15 things every smart holiday shopper knows.
