Every Friday we chat with one of our blog content network contributors to find out what most inspires them to be fit and find adventure every day.
This week we’re chatting with Meghan from The Perfect Compilation Tape.
Meghan is a fun-loving mom, a runner and a self-described “walking contradiction.” She says so for a few reasons, like the fact that she loves to run but is always dealing with injuries, or that she lives in Chicago but loves New York more. On her blog, which she’s been writing for about six years now, she covers topics from fitness to family and everything in between.
The Active Times: What spurred you start your blog?
Meghan: I started The Perfect Compilation Tape back in 2008 as a creative outlet - a place to document my thoughts, feelings and day to day experiences. I cannot believe how it's grown!
What is the greatest joy you get from blogging?
I absolutely love meeting readers and other bloggers. I've been fortunate to form many friendships as a result. I've attended blog conferences and taken trips with readers who have become dear friends!
What's one thing many people don't know about you?
One thing many people don't know about my blog is that I never take myself too seriously. I try not to pressure myself to blog every day, or write about a certain topic.
What is the one piece of kit or equipment you’d never be without?
Honestly, I know it's large, but my treadmill! I love to run, and having a treadmill in my basement is perfect for me as a working mother!
Are you passionate about any activities besides running?
My two biggest fitness-related passions are running and barre classes. Running allows me to challenge myself both mentally and physically, and barre classes help me maintain the strength I need to do so!
What is top of your bucket list when it comes to running?
My top item was to complete a marathon, which I did. But now? I'd love to run the New York City marathon someday.
What, if anything, did you most recently knock off your bucket list?
I recently ran my first marathon - the Chicago Marathon! It was an awesome day, and I cannot wait to do it again someday!
What would your life be like without barre class?
I am a HUGE fan of barre classes, and they have taught me that I am SO much stronger than I give myself credit for. I also took barre classes throughout my pregnancy, and I swear that they helped me maintain a healthy, safe pregnancy and contributed to a successful delivery.
Where is your favorite place to be?
New York City. I once read that New York isn't a city, it's another world - and I couldn't agree more.
