Last weekend at the Buffalo Bill Downhill race in Golden, CO, longboarders gathered to race down Lookout Mountain Road, reaching speeds of up to 40 mph. And deer gathered to nail those longboarders—or, at least one did.
“I knew I was going to hit it, and I don’t remember what I did, but I tackled it to the ground,” 17-year-old Ryan Vitale told CBS. “I was praying I didn’t break anything.”
And he didn't! The high school junior claims that the deer broke his fall, and that after a few seconds of bewildered staring at one another, he was able to walk away with only a case of road rash, a few bruises and the basis for a lifelong phobia.
