Summer Cycling Tips from the Pros
People have been riding bicycles on regular basis since the 1800’s. Cycling is now known to be one of the best ways to maintain weight and boost a person’s overall health. But biking in the summer is a different ball game. Elite athletes and amateurs love it. “It's much simpler without all the layers to keep warm,” Laurel Wassner, a professional triathlete, says. “The summer is my main race season so I do a lot more race specific rides and intervals. It's a good time for me to practice performing in warm weather,” she adds. It’s a great time to practice even if you are not training for an endurance event. “There is a certain allure of riding a bike that taps into your inner child, and nice weather really adds to that,” Andy Potts, USA Olympian, a decorated triathlete and Ironman competitor, says.
