Gallstones are hardened deposits of digestive fluid that can form in your gallbladder, according to mayoclinic.com. They are common in the United States, and the majority of individuals who have them usually require gallbladder removal surgery. Some of the symptoms include back pain, abdominal pain and pain in your right shoulder. Gallstones may form due to your bile containing too much bilirubin or cholesterol.

Crohn’s Disease

This is a chronic inflammatory bowel disease that can affect any part of the gastrointestinal tract. According to research, approximately 700,000 people in the U.S. are affected by this disease. It occurs most often between the ages of 15-35. “Researchers believe Crohn’s disease is caused by a combination of factors involving genetics, the environment, and an overactive immune system.”

Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease

Also known as GERD, this disease affects the lower esophageal sphincter - when the contents in your stomach go back up into your esophagus. The most common symptom of GERD is heart burn. Certain foods can contribute to the disease, some of which include alcoholic beverages and chocolate.

Irritable Bowel Syndrome

This is a common digestive disorder that affects the large intestine. It usually causes bloating, gas, constipation, abdominal pain and cramping. It can be caused by certain types of foods, increased stress and hormone changes.

Lactose Intolerance

Some people who suffer from lactose intolerance have trouble digesting dairy products. Specifically, they have a hard time fully digesting the sugar (lactose) in milk. This can cause bloating, gas and stomach pain. The good news is that the majority of people with this condition can manage it without having to give up all dairy foods, according to mayoclinic.org.

Celiac Disease

This is a genetic autoimmune disorder where the consumption of gluten leads to damage in the small intestine, according to the Celiac Disease Foundation. This is a hereditary disease that can eventually lead to anemia, lactose intolerance, infertility, vitamin deficiencies, and gall bladder malfunction.

Diverticulitis

This is when pouches of diverticula form on the wall of the colon then get inflamed or infected, according to WebMD. Some doctors think that a low-fiber diet may play a role in this disorder; however, they are not too sure what causes it. Some symptoms of this digestive disorder include fever, chills, bloating, nausea and gas.

Also known as gastroenteritis, the stomach flu is caused when different viruses attack your gastrointestinal system. Some of the symptoms include diarrhea, abdominal pain, fever, headache, nausea and vomiting. These symptoms can last anywhere from one to 10 days.
