The 10 Secret Vacation Behaviors You KNOW You're Guilty Of

Some 60 percent of hotel guests – 1,000 adult travelers – engage in quirky behavior while traveling, according to a survey conducted by Hyatt Place hotels.  That may include taking calls while naked or never leaving the room wearing your underwear. These are some of the hush-hush conducts most people are embarrassed to admit.

Selfies everywhere

Whether it's because you think you'll never see this landmark again, because you want to show off on social media, or because you think no one will believe you actually "tried" to fix the Leaning Tower of Pisa, taking selfies with every and any even somewhat famous landmark is a must. The other truth is that you won't even look at the photos more than once when you go home.

Blast the A/C

Since you don't have to be concerned about the electricity bill at the end of the month, and you have already paid for the room, of course you are going to blast the air conditioner as if you were on Antarctica.

Crank up the heat

Even though this is less common than blasting the A/C, many people like it hot. This, however, can cause premature aging because it dries the air. You may feel toasty and warm but the heat sucks moisture out of the air, which can lead to dry, inflamed skin, which over time has aging effects. One way to free your skin from itching and flaking is by placing a wet towel over the radiator or a bowl with cold water in the room.

Stealing toiletries

People often leave their own toiletries at home in order to avoid extra charges at the airport, especially if they use a discount airline. Most hotels have shampoos, soaps and conditioners in the rooms. Feel free to take them with you, even if you are not passionate about them. You can use them later of save them for another trip since they are small enough to pass airport security.

Staying in the room all day

A lot of guests don't go sightseeing every time they are in town. Many just want to put on a robe and relax on the comfortable bed all day. Make sure you check for bed bugs though. Even the best and most expensive accommodations have been plagued on occasion. Some people will make an exception and get out of bed to use the hotel pool or spa.

Eat every meal in bed

The bed is the most comfortable piece of furniture in the room, so of course you're going to do everything there when no one is watching. Be mindful of the fact that you may be sabotaging your sleep this way. The bed has to play the role of a sleeping stimulant, not restlessness. The body gets used to not being at rest in bed which will eventually make it harder and harder to fall asleep.

Use too many towels

Only expensive hotels and luxurious spas usually offer these items to guests. You're not allowed to take them from your room or you may expect a charge on your credit card later. It won't be cheap. The alternative is to use as many as you possibly can while you the room is yours.

Eating all you can at breakfast

Eating all you can at breakfast is a good way to save money while on vacation. Stay at places offering breakfast until later in the morning. This will take you through late lunch and you may need just another meal and a snack during the whole day.

Walk in your underwear all day

The only more comfortable way to dress than wearing loose clothing (which is useful if you want to sleep on a plane) is wearing underwear only. If no one is watching and you are in the privacy of your own room with no chance of anyone surprising you by storming in without knocking, then of course you are going to be in the most comfortable state possible— wearing just underwear.

Binge-watch reality TV

Everybody loves to say he or she doesn't watch reality TV shows, yet there are so many of them. That's probably because they get a lot of viewers, right? About 8 percent of the adults who took part in the Hyatt Place survey say their secret behavior is watching reality TV.
