Halloween may look a little different in 2020, but there will still be socially distanced trick-or-treating and virtual costume contests, which means that people need costume ideas for the spookiest time of year. So what pop culture phenomenon is proving to be among the most popular Halloween costumes for 2020? “Tiger King”? Donald Trump and Joe Biden? Nope, it’s characters from “Cobra Kai.”

The Most Popular Halloween Candy in Every State

According to a press release from Google, the No. 1 trending costume for September 2020 was Cobra Kai costumes, based on the “Karate Kid” spinoff “Cobra Kai” on Netflix. So expect to see plenty of karate costumes this Halloween, an idea that will actually look pretty cool when paired with a properly worn face mask.

What other costumes are trending for 2020? Dungeon Masters from the role-playing game Dungeons and Dragons ranked at No. 2, thanks to more people possibly playing while spending time at home. The Mandalorian and adorable “baby Yoda” costumes came in at No. 3. “Space cowgirl,” likely inspired by the rainbow glittery outfits of country singer Kacey Musgraves, is No. 4, followed by trolls from the “Trolls” movies at No. 5.

Belle from “Beauty and the Beast,” DJ Marshmello, inflatable shark, firefighter and the Sanderson sisters from the Halloween film “Hocus Pocus” round out the top 10.

As for costumes for the kiddos, some of the most popular options include Supergirl, flamingo, “Hocus Pocus,” witches and Glinda from “The Wizard of Oz.” Popular baby costumes include baby shark, baby Yoda and baby pumpkin. And for the couples out there? People are looking for classic duos like Bonnie and Clyde, Lilo and Stitch, and Cosmo and Wanda from “The Fairly Oddparents.”
