Do These Crazy Adventures Before Summer Ends Or Regret It All Winter

Do These Crazy Adventures Before Summer Ends

A big part of the excitement of travel is going somewhere you've never been or trying something you have never done, so consider branching out this summer. If you haven't taken a vacation yet, consider this: You are already traveling and spending money, so why not explore new destinations where you have never been before and experience adventures that you can't find just anywhere.

Go on a week-long primitive camping trip

If you're looking for primitive camping destinations, the seven charming islands in the Dry Tortugas National Park in Florida are the places to be. Bringing everything you need, even water, may be a little annoying, but the views, lush marine life, the island's Civil War-era Fort Jefferson, and untouched beaches are worth it.

Reach places only accessible by kayak

Relish the serenity and freedom that this kind of small watercraft offers. A kayak affords thrill-seekers the most breathtaking views and the most phenomenal experience in places that may not be otherwise reachable.  see remote and quiet beaches, caves, and marine life from a unique perspective. Nothing beats the vintage point of view, even at night.

Jump out of a plane

Can you willingly hurl your body out of a plane that's flying 14,000 feet in the air? Once you manage that out the door maneuver and actually begin your free fall, skydiving is one of the most exhilarating activities you can do. Some of the most exciting places to approach fast from above are the Namib Desert in Namibia, Mount Everest in Nepal, Moab in Utah, and Victoria Falls, the world's largest sheet of falling water, in Zimbabwe and Zambia.

Soar above the water

People can float above the surface of the water with the help of a flyboard or jetpack, and it looks like something out of a sci-fi movie. Soar above the water and get a unique view of the sea. This adrenaline-pumping experience has gotten very popular in Florida. Many companies that offer stand-up paddleboadrding (SUP) and kayaking lessons now teach flyboarding, too.

Go mountain biking in Arizona

The land of red rocks and intense spirituality, Sedona is not your average outdoor adventure destination. The desert town's surrounding landscape brings adventurers. Take to Submarine Rock on a mountain bike, get off the beaten path with ATVs and hike Red Rock State Park. The Black Canyon Trail, a long-distance singletrack, is another great option. The majority of riders skip the section north of Hwy 69. The southern section is smooth with a gradual descent.

Swim with whale sharks off Yucatán Peninsula

At just over 20 square miles, the Mexican island of Isla Holbox is tiny. But the teeming waters at the intersection of the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean Sea contain the world's highest concentration of whale sharks, the largest fish at up to 40 feet long. Despite their size, whale sharks are docile filter-feeders, so you can safely swim among them on a guided tour.

Paddle in Acadia National Park, Maine

Acadia has long been known for its stunningly rugged natural coastline and the best way to take it all in is from the water. Novice paddlers can hire a guide to take them along Frenchman Bay, while those more advanced might want to take their own excursion. There are public boat ramps in Bar Harbor, Northeast Harbor and Southwest Harbor, in addition to other access sites.

Cave dive in Florida

Visiting a water-filled cave is a thrill. North-central Florida is a leading cave diving destination when it comes to diver-traffic, according to Dive Advisor. Ginnie Springs is usually referred to as "the world's favorite freshwater dive" because of its pristine water and astonishing natural exquisiteness. Visit Florida Caverns State Park which offers cave tours. People can also hike, bike and camp there. Fishing, boating and canoeing on the Chipola River or Blue Hole Spring are also options.

Bungee jumping

Jump from high bridges and seize the moment of seeing all the majesty and tranquility beneath. Some people call it crazy, but those who have felt the rush know that the moments of fear are well worth the reward. From 600-foot drops to dips in the water below, bungee jumping allows you to fly through the air toward the earth and survive intact. If you want to swing, keep Big Rush in Durban in mind. It is recognized by Guinness World Records as the tallest swing in the world.

Try canyon swinging

Be aware that this is an intense, adrenaline-pumping activity. You will be launching yourself from some very high cliffs. New Zealand is a popular destination with at least 10 locations allowing for many different styles of jumping. Go on the Pin Drop or get released on The Slide. You can even do it backwards. Whatever your preference is, you'll likely experience Vertigo for a while.

And volcano boarding

Racing down an active volcano at 25-30 miles per hour is a thrill like few others. You and your wooden board can literally crash into sharp volcanic rocks. Although this can leave a few marks, the experience is worth the bragging rights. Going up to Cerro Negro in Nicaragua is just a bonus adventure as you'll have to hike for an hour or so, according to VolcanoBoard. The surf down starts at 2,388 feet and can last for just 3-4 minutes, depending on how fast you're going.

Hike the Pacific Crest Trail

Completing this trail is every adventurer's dream. The 2,650-mile-long Pacific Crest Trail extends from Canada to Mexico and traces a north-south route through the Cascades, Sierra Nevada and coastal ranges of Southern California, sticking mostly to national forest land and passing through seven national parks. Completing the entire trail will take months but you can hike certain parts only. Among the trail's many iconic waypoints are Yosemite National Park, Crater Lake and Mount Rainier. By the end, you will have also explored several lavish forests as well as harsh deserts.

Snorkel in Solomon Islands while you still can

Research published last year showed that rising sea levels have resulted in the disappearance of five of the Solomon Islands, while erosion on others has forced the relocation of beautiful villages. Visit secluded bays and remote beaches, snorkel coral reefs and meet villagers in the Solomons and other nearby archipelagos while on a cruise with Adventure Life.

Go snuba diving in Bahamas

Snuba is an exciting water adventure that is a merge between snorkeling and scuba diving. You get the best of both worlds. Technically, snuba is easier, and you get to see coral reefs and lavish marine life from up close. But you can't go deeper than 20 feet. You breathe through a regulator that is attached by a line to your air supply, which rests floating on the surface in a raft as you dive.

Take a road trip, finally

If you feel like going on a getaway vacation, few can be more spontaneous than a road trip, which for many is the perfect way to travel. You just grab some food and water, fill up the tank and hop in the car. Some of the best road trips, according to science, are the Road to Hana in Hawaii, New York City to Niagara, Route 66, and the San Juan Skyway in Colorado.
