One of the coolest things about trail running is that it doesn’t require a lot of gear. You don’t have to make sure your tires are aired up, you’ve remembered your chalk bag or your carabiner, and there are no roof racks to mess with to haul equipment.
By design, running is supposed to be minimalist, and the freedom that comes with it is the highest virtue of the sport. For the most part, your critical "equipment" consists of your muscles and the motivation needed to get out and explore new trails.
