5 Easy-to-Make Superfood Smoothies for Summer

Fuel your workouts, stay cool and get energized with these easy summer superfood smoothies

Smoothies make eating healthy easy, especially during the summer months when staying cool and energized are top priorities.

Plus, they’re usually easy to make and portable, so they can fit into your healthy eating routine even when you’re on vacation or catching up with friends at a barbecue.

Not to mention, with their nutritious and energizing ingredients, they’re perfect both for fueling up before a workout or recovering afterwards.

Essentially, smoothies are one of the best ways to stay on top of your nutrition game during the summer, which is why we asked fitness trainer, best-selling author and wellness director John Rowley to share some inspiration for a few delicious superfood smoothies.

1. Green Smoothie

  • 2 ripe medium bananas 

  • 1 ripe pear or apple, peeled and 
chopped 

  • 2 cups chopped kale leaves, tough 
stems removed 

  • 3⁄4 cup cold freshly squeezed orange 
juice 

  • 1⁄2 cup cold water 

  • 2 scoops UX3: The Body Shaping 
Beverage 

  • 2 cups ice cubes 

  • 1 tbsp. ground flaxseed 

  • Directions: Puree all ingredients until smooth, scraping sides of blender, as necessary, to mix.

2. Orange Cream Smoothie

  • 1 cup cold pure coconut water, without added sugar or flavor 

  • 1 cup nonfat vanilla Greek yogurt 

  • 2 scoops UX3: The Body Shaping 
Beverage 

  • 1 cup frozen or fresh mango chunks 

  • 4 tbsp. frozen orange juice 
concentrate 

  • 2 cups ice 

  • Directions: Puree all ingredients until smooth.

3. Thin Mint Smoothie

  • 2 cups organic spinach 

  • 1 cup almond milk 

  • 2 scoops UX3: The Body Shaping 
Beverage 

  • 2 tbsp. unsweetened cocoa powder 

  • Stevia to taste 

  • 1⁄4 cup rolled oats 

  • 5 drops peppermint extract
  • Directions: Puree all ingredients until smooth.

4. Chocolate Blueberry

  • 2 cups organic spinach 

  • 1 cup blueberries, frozen

Beverage 

  • 2 tbsp. dark cocoa powder 

  • 1⁄2 cup unsweetened almond milk 

  • Directions: Puree all ingredients until smooth.

5. Breakfast Smoothie

  • 1⁄2 cup vanilla nonfat Greek yogurt 

  • 1⁄4 cup raw almonds 

  • 1⁄4 cup organic broccoli florets, stems 
cut off 

  • 1 cup frozen strawberries

Beverage 

  • 1⁄4 cup cannellini beans 

  • 3⁄4 cup iced green tea 

  • 1 tsp. flax meal 

  • 1⁄4 tsp. cinnamon 

  • Directions: Puree all ingredients until smooth.
