Video: Assault on the Ice Castle

Big-name climbers have an ice day in Ouray, Colo.

If you're going ice climbing, there are few places better than in Ouray, Colorado. After all, the town hosts the annual Ouray Ice Festival (coming up later this week, Jan. 10-13) at the Ouray Ice Park, home to more than 200 ice and mixed climbs. Recently, climbers Steve House and Vince Anderson went to the area to take on some of their favorite routes there. The result is this beautiful little video that reminds us not only that we don't have to give up our favorite outdoor activities just because winter has arrived, but also that adventure is always within reach if you know where to look for it. So enjoy the change of seasons and the new challenges and opportunities it brings, and keep your eyes open for microadventures (an idea promoted by adventurer Alastair Humphreys) in 2013. Think about that as we all head into the first full week of the New Year.
