Service Members Eligible for Free Park Pass

Joining Forces Initiative takes action
Staff Writer

Active U.S. service members and their dependents are now eligible to receive a free annual pass to the nation’s national parks, wildlife refuges, national forests and other public areas. The military passes—which include the America the Beautiful National Parks and the Federal Recreation Lands Annual Pass—became available on Armed Forces Day, May 19, thanks to the Joining Forces Initiative, an effort launched last year by First Lady Michelle Obama and Dr. Jill Biden to garner more social support for service members and their families.
