"The Most Incredible Volcano Video Of ALL Time!"

You've been to the edge of a volcano, right? Well—not like this.

Geoff Mackley, Bradley Ambrose and Nathan Berg went to the edge of Marum Volcano on Ambrym Island, Vanuatu, a small nation in the South Pacific. And, thanks to the help of spaceman-esque heat suits and a "Fire Brigade" breathing apparatus, Mackley, the photographer/filmographer, and crew were able to stand the 1,150-degree heat to get within feet of the flowing lava lake for a full 40 minutes, creating what Mackley has called, "The Most Incredible Volcano Video of ALL Time."

Don't expect to hop a plane, zip up a suit and do this yourself, though. According to Mackley, the film took two months to film (waiting for a weather window) and "tens of thousands of dollars" to finance. And whether or not you agree that it's the "most incredible video of all time," it's safe to say that this was one hot shot. Our only question now is, why isn't it in HD?
