As “a man’s best friend” dogs are some of our closest companions. However, dog attacks on humans occur every day. In the United States approximately 1,000 people require emergency care for dog bite injuries daily.

Before you go ahead and adopt a dog, it’s important to educate yourself on the breeds that have attacked the most people – Pit Bulls, Rottweilers and German Shepherds are some of the most dangerous dogs.

However, some dog attacks come from breeds you would never expect. For instance, Labrador Retrievers are known as a very popular family pet and they have one of the highest registered ownerships of any breed of dog. They are known to be very loyal; doing whatever it takes to protect their owners, including attacking other humans.

According to the CDC, about 4.5 million dog bites occur every year in the country and approximately one of out every five bites become infected. Children and men are among the highest people at risk.

With the help of research and statistics from DogsBite.org, I have compiled a list of dog breeds that have attacked the most people.
