People have been riding bicycles on regular basis since the 1800’s. Cycling is now known to be one of the best ways to maintain weight and boost a person’s overall health. But biking in the summer is a different ball game. Elite athletes and amateurs love it. “It's much simpler without all the layers to keep warm,” Laurel Wassner, a professional triathlete, says. “The summer is my main race season so I do a lot more race specific rides and intervals. It's a good time for me to practice performing in warm weather,” she adds. It’s a great time to practice even if you are not training for an endurance event. “There is a certain allure of riding a bike that taps into your inner child, and nice weather really adds to that,” Andy Potts, USA Olympian, a decorated triathlete and Ironman competitor, says.
