12 Exercises You Can Do While Sitting Down

Do these moves when you can't get up, but need to get moving

By now, most of us know that moving more is important to good health. While physical activity provides the body with a long list of physiological and mental benefits, inactivty (especially prolonged periods of it) is the opposite of healthful, and may even counteract all the hard work you put in at the gym or on the track.

Of course, the fact that many jobs require we sit, typing away at a desk all day doesn't help this situation at all. Plus, the ability to stream entire seasons of "Breaking Bad" on Netflix with a single click makes it pretty easy to lie dormant for hours at a time. Whether you're bingeing on your favorite TV show or actually being productive at work, it's good to get up and move around every hour or so. But if, for whatever reason, your butt seems to be glued to your seat, it doesn't mean you can't still move more.

Click through to see 12 of the best seated exercises.

These 12 exercises, which can all be executed from any chair, will help keep your blood flowing and your muscles moving even during the most sedentary of times. (Note: This is not an endorsement to watch Netflix all day.)
